NICC
Students
Shine in State BPA Competition
Posted 4 March
2010
Six NICC
Business Professionals of America (BPA) students competed
successfully against their peers in state competition, with five Calmar
campus competitors earning first place honors in a variety of
individual contests. The NICC students competed in the Iowa BPA State
Leadership Conference, held this year from Feb. 22-24 in Cedar Rapids.
The conference offers the business students an opportunity to compete
individually in categories such as public speaking, accounting,
banking, finance management and computerized accounting.
"Our six students did a tremendous job representing NICC. They brought
home 15 plaques and five were first place awards," said Sue Elwood, BPA
co-advisor and NICC office technology instructor. "All six students are
eligible to attend the BPA National Leadership Convention." Edna
Stiefel, NICC business and computer instructor, also serves the Calmar
BPA chapter as a co-advisor.
The NICC business students will compete against students from across
the nation at the national convention in Anaheim, Calif., from May 4-9.

communication skills, and give students the opportunity to receive
recognition.
