Small
Steps
To Health And Wealth Online Course
Posted 24 February
2010
It is tax time once again. Time to look records and determine if
things are in balance. As you look at your financial health, it
might also be time to assess your physical health. Are you
concerned you are headed toward serious health issues? Are you
paying some bills late each month?
“There is a relationship between behaviors that promote health and
promote wealth,” says Cindy Baumgartner, Iowa State University
Extension program specialist.
A new and exciting online program, Small Steps to Health and
WealthTM , will help you take charge of your future by
identifying small progress steps to reach health and wealth
goals. Participants will learn behavior change strategies that
can be applied to simultaneously improve both health and personal
finances.
For example, small positive behavior changes such as saving $5 or
cutting 100 calories will make a big difference over time.
Another way to improve health and build wealth is to downsize your
eating and your spending. “This does not mean being deprived of
things that you enjoy,” says Baumgartner. “People can lose weight
and still eat their favorite foods by decreasing their portion
sizes. Any reduction in calories or spending is a step in
the right direction and can make a real impact over time.”
This online program will be offered one hour per week for four weeks
beginning March 4. Participants can choose from two class times: noon
or at 6:00 pm. To participate, you must have a computer with
internet and sound capabilities. You will receive via e-mail
class handouts, and detailed instructions for accessing the online
class. The class is live and interactive. If you miss a
class or want to re-watch a class, sessions are taped for your
convenience.
