EntreFest!
Brings
Together Business Owners, Aspiring Entrepreneurs and Experts
February 25-26
Posted 15 February
2010
Small businesses create news jobs, develop new ideas and offer valuable
services all across the state, and they employ more than half of Iowa's
private labor force. Inspiring those business owners to grow and
develop their business, and providing the tools to do so, is the
impetus behind the third annual EntreFest! conference, taking place
Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25-26, in West Des Moines. EntreFest! brings
information, expertise and fun under one roof, providing Iowa business
owners and those aspiring to be in business, an opportunity to learn,
share and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit.
The two-day conference will be at the West Des Moines Marriott, 1250
Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines. Registration fees are $79 per
person. For the third year in a row, attendees will compete for a
chance to receive a $10,000 marketing research project from UNI's
Strategic Marketing Services, and all attendees are registered for a
chance to win a Dell laptop computer and customized training and
technical assistance from some of the state's premier consultants.
According to Amy Kuhlers, program manager for MyEntre.Net Iowa with the
University of Northern Iowa's Regional Business Center, this year's
conference builds on the successes of Iowa's two previous EntreFests!
"More than 250 attendees were with us for the second annual EntreFest!
last March in Coralville" she said. "They loved the networking, the
market research assistance, the laptop giveaway and of course, the
helpful advice throughout the conference. EntreFest! 2010 will continue
the tradition, offering 15 breakout sessions, on-the-spot consulting,
lots of exhibitors and a few surprises along the way."
This year's sessions are geared to help pull small firms out of the
recession. Attendees will learn about Facebook, Google Ads and
blogging, marketing must-do's for each generation, why now is a great
time to start or expand a business, and how to engage the hearts and
minds of employees. There will be an abundance of networking
opportunities, and the Biz Info Smorgasbord will provide attendees a
chance to ask questions of business experts in a fun, informal setting.
This year's featured keynote presenter is Al Lautenslager, entrepreneur
and co-author of the best-selling book "Guerrilla Marketing in 30
Days." Lautenslager is principal of Market for Profits, is a member of
USA Today's small business panel and appears regularly on radio and TV,
including annual appearances reviewing Super Bowl TV commercials. The
featured capstone presenter is Susan Wilson Solovic, CEO of SBTV.com,
the first and only video news and information destination site for
America's small businesses. Solovic is a regular contributor to ABC's
America This Morning and other popular national radio and television
programs.
